The Update covers the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2026 which amends the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961 with effect from 4 September 2026.

According to the Team, the amendments introduced in alignment with the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, substantially ease the compliance burden for establishments in Karnataka. Accordingly, employers in Karnataka should promptly review their HR, onboarding, registration, and statutory compliance processes to ensure adherence to these provisions, which have come into effect immediately.
