A pivotal moment for employment law reforms in India
On 21 November 2025, the Ministry of Labour and Employment officially made four major labour codes effective. The Code on Wages, 2019, the Industrial Relations Code, 2020, the Code on Social Security, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, collectively replace 29 (twenty-nine) older central labour laws.
What does this mean for you as an employer, HR-leader, or advisor?
- If you have not acted yet, now is the time: Review your workforce contracts, social-security arrangements, wage structures, health & safety policies, and compliance mechanisms.
- There are clear opportunities: Streamlining compliance, reducing administrative burden, and positioning your organisation as forward-looking in workforce practices.
- Lack of readiness may invite regulatory scrutiny, disruption in operations or worker dissatisfaction (and disputes).
Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA) is organizing a webinar along with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan (LKS) to analyse and breakdown the key developments made by the 4 Codes and guide industries on:
- critical nuances of the new Codes; and
- outlining a roadmap to transition into the new regulatory regime
