Kunal Nikumbh is a Partner in GST Advisory practice at Mumbai office of Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan.
Kunal advises clients in solving complex GST problems and helping them with structuring the most tax efficient business models.
As part of the GST Advisory Team, he advises a diverse set of clients, including many multinational companies and listed domestic companies, in resolving complex GST issues. During the initial phase of GST, he worked on structuring tax compliant business models for the clients and advised clients on transition issues.
He also drafts applications to be filed with the Authority for Advance Ruling and assists during the personal hearing before the AAR and Appellate AAR.
He also handles long-term retainer clients, providing advice on their day-to-day business transactions.
He regularly drafts representations on behalf of different industry associations on various issues and has successfully provided hand-holding support to clients during investigations conducted by Investigation Agencies such as DGGI. Before the introduction of GST, he worked extensively in other branches of indirect taxation, such as central excise and service tax, on various issues relating to classification of products and valuation of goods and services. During this period, he was also involved in drafting replies to SCNs, appeals, etc., and representing clients before various authorities under the legacy laws.
